Reactive adsorption

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009974

Adsorption in which an arriving molecule splits and one of its fragments bonds to a species already adsorbed on the surface, instead of to a free surface site. It resembles dissociative adsorption, in which both fragments bind to sites. The reverse process, in which a fragment leaves together with an adsorbate, is called reactive desorption.
