Reactive airways dysfunction syndrome
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009975
A non-allergic form of asthma that develops acutely after a single, high-level exposure to an irritant gas, vapor, or fume. This syndrome is characterized by persistent asthma-like symptoms, including cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath, typically within 24 hours of exposure. It is diagnosed based on a history of irritant exposure and objective evidence of airway hyperresponsiveness.
