Bagassosis

A type of hypersensitivity pneumonitis, or extrinsic allergic alveolitis, caused by inhaling dust from bagasse, the fibrous residue left after sugarcane stalks are crushed. This occupational lung disease results from an allergic reaction to thermophilic actinomycetes present in the bagasse. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
