Bronchoconstriction

The narrowing of the airways in the lungs due to the contraction of the smooth muscle surrounding the bronchi and bronchioles. This physiological response reduces airflow and can lead to symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing. It is a characteristic feature of asthma and allergic reactions.
