Bronchodilation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001508
The widening of the airways in the lungs, resulting from the relaxation of the smooth muscle surrounding the bronchi and bronchioles. This process increases airflow and can alleviate symptoms of respiratory distress. Bronchodilation is often induced by medications such as beta-agonists, which are used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
