Vasorelaxation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013685

The widening of blood vessels, resulting from the relaxation of the smooth muscle cells within the vessel walls. This process leads to an increase in blood flow and a decrease in blood pressure. Nitric oxide is a potent endogenous mediator of vasorelaxation, acting on vascular smooth muscle.
