Arteriogenesis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000799

The process of remodeling existing small arteries into larger, more functional collateral vessels in response to chronic ischemia. This involves the proliferation of endothelial and smooth muscle cells, leading to an increase in vessel diameter and blood flow capacity. It differs from angiogenesis, which is the formation of new capillaries.
