Nitric oxide
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007952
A gaseous signaling molecule with the chemical formula NO, produced endogenously by nitric oxide synthase enzymes. It acts as a neurotransmitter, vasodilator, and immune mediator, playing roles in blood pressure regulation, immune response, and neuronal communication. Its short half-life necessitates continuous production for sustained effects.
