Nitric oxide

A colorless gas composed of one nitrogen atom and one oxygen atom, with the chemical formula NO. It is produced naturally by lightning and microbial activity in soils, and anthropogenically from the combustion of fossil fuels. Nitric oxide reacts rapidly with ozone to form nitrogen dioxide, influencing atmospheric chemistry and air quality.
