Carbon dioxide

A colorless, odorless gas composed of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms, naturally present in the Earth's atmosphere. It is a vital greenhouse gas that traps heat, contributing to the planet's energy balance. Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide are measured in parts per million (ppm).
