Carbon dioxide band

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004161

A specific range of wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum where carbon dioxide molecules absorb and emit radiation. These absorption bands are primarily in the infrared region, trapping outgoing longwave radiation from Earth's surface. The strongest absorption bands for carbon dioxide occur around 4.3 micrometers and 15 micrometers.
