Far infrared

The portion of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than mid-infrared, typically ranging from about 15 micrometers to 1 millimeter. This radiation is strongly absorbed by water vapor and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It is used in remote sensing for studying atmospheric composition and Earth's energy budget.
