Near-infrared
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010638
The portion of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than mid-infrared radiation, typically ranging from about 0.75 to 1.4 micrometers. This spectral region is used in remote sensing for applications such as vegetation monitoring and cloud detection. Water vapor absorbs strongly in certain near-infrared bands.
