Near-infrared radiation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010639
Electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than mid-infrared radiation, typically ranging from about 0.75 to 1.4 micrometers. It is emitted by warm objects and is partially absorbed by atmospheric gases like water vapor and carbon dioxide. This spectral region is used in remote sensing for vegetation analysis and cloud detection.
