Water-vapor bands

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010131

Specific regions of the electromagnetic spectrum where water vapor molecules absorb and emit radiation, creating distinct absorption features. These bands are primarily found in the infrared and microwave portions of the spectrum. Satellite instruments exploit these bands to measure atmospheric water vapor content and track its movement.
