Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004255

A series of absorption bands of ozone in the visible spectrum, specifically between approximately 400 and 700 nanometers. These bands are responsible for the bluish color of the sky when viewed from high altitudes and contribute to the absorption of solar radiation in the stratosphere. The absorption cross-section peaks around 600 nm.
