Cloud absorption

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004403

The process by which clouds take in and retain electromagnetic radiation, primarily in the infrared and some visible wavelengths. Water vapor, liquid water droplets, and ice crystals within clouds absorb radiation, leading to warming of the cloud layer. This absorption contributes to the greenhouse effect and influences the overall radiative balance of the atmosphere.
