Selective absorption

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008776

The process by which a substance absorbs electromagnetic radiation more strongly at certain wavelengths than at others. In the atmosphere, gases like ozone, water vapor, and carbon dioxide exhibit selective absorption, influencing the Earth's energy balance and temperature.
