Selective scattering
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008778
The process where electromagnetic radiation is scattered differently depending on its wavelength. In the atmosphere, this phenomenon is responsible for the blue color of the sky, as shorter blue wavelengths are scattered more efficiently by air molecules than longer red wavelengths. Rayleigh scattering is a primary example of selective scattering.
