Enhanced greenhouse effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005381
The additional warming of Earth's surface and lower atmosphere due to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases, primarily from human activities. These gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, absorb and re-emit infrared radiation, trapping heat that would otherwise escape to space. This effect leads to global climate change and associated impacts.
