Nitric acid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007544
A strong inorganic acid with the chemical formula HNO3, existing as a colorless liquid or gas in the atmosphere. It is formed through the reaction of nitrogen dioxide with hydroxyl radicals or water vapor, and is a major component of acid rain.
