Acid deposition

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003229

The process by which acidic compounds, primarily sulfuric and nitric acids, are removed from the atmosphere and deposited onto the Earth's surface. This can occur through wet deposition, such as acid rain, snow, or fog, or through dry deposition of acidic gases and particles. Acid deposition can harm ecosystems, buildings, and human health.
