Deposition velocity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004933
A conceptual velocity that describes the rate at which atmospheric pollutants or other substances are removed from the atmosphere and deposited onto a surface. It is calculated as the flux of the substance to the surface divided by its concentration in the air near the surface. This parameter is used in air quality models to quantify the dry deposition of gases and particles, typically expressed in centimeters per second (cm/s).
