Depression

A region of the atmosphere characterized by relatively low barometric pressure, also known as a low or cyclone. It is associated with a system of winds that circulate cyclonically, meaning counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. These systems are frequently accompanied by clouds, precipitation, and unsettled weather as air converges at the surface and rises.
A region of low atmospheric pressure that is usually accompanied by low clouds and precipitation. The term is also sometimes used as a reference to a Tropical Depression.
