Depression angle
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004934
The angle measured downward from the horizontal to a point of interest below the observer or instrument. In remote sensing, it is the angle between the horizontal plane at the sensor and the line of sight to a target on the ground. This angle is complementary to the elevation angle and is a key parameter in calculating the slant range and ground position of objects viewed by radar or other sensors.
