Angle of arrival

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003505

The direction from which an electromagnetic wave, such as a radio signal or a radar pulse, is received by an antenna or sensor. In atmospheric science, this concept is relevant for remote sensing applications, where the angle of arrival can provide information about the path of the signal through the atmosphere. It is measured relative to a reference direction, often the local horizontal or vertical.
