Target signal

The portion of a received electromagnetic or acoustic signal that originates from the specific atmospheric phenomenon or object being observed by a remote sensing instrument. This signal carries information about the target's location, velocity, and physical properties. It must be distinguished from noise and clutter for accurate measurements.
