Tau-value
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009502
A dimensionless parameter representing the optical thickness or optical depth of a medium, such as a cloud or aerosol layer, to radiation. It quantifies the extent to which radiation is attenuated by absorption and scattering as it passes through the medium. A higher tau-value indicates greater attenuation.
