Satellite zenith angle

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008653

The angle between the local vertical direction at a point on the Earth's surface and the line of sight to an orbiting satellite. This angle varies depending on the satellite's position relative to the observer and influences the path length of radiation through the atmosphere. It is a key parameter in correcting satellite measurements for atmospheric effects.
