Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009038

The angular distance between the sun's position in the sky and the local zenith, which is the point directly overhead an observer. It is the complement to the solar elevation angle, so the sum of the two angles is 90 degrees. The solar zenith angle is 0° when the sun is at the zenith and 90° when the sun is on the horizon.
