Time-of-arrival technique
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009684
A method used to locate the source of an atmospheric phenomenon, such as lightning or acoustic events, by measuring the precise arrival times of its signals at multiple spatially separated sensors. The differences in arrival times are then used to triangulate the source's position. This technique is commonly employed in lightning detection networks.
