Wet deposition
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010212
The process by which atmospheric pollutants are removed from the atmosphere and deposited onto the Earth's surface through precipitation, such as rain, snow, or fog. This includes both gases dissolved in precipitation and particulate matter scavenged by hydrometeors. Acid rain is a prominent example of the effects of wet deposition.
