Wet deposition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012682

The process by which atmospheric pollutants are removed from the atmosphere and deposited onto the Earth's surface through precipitation. This includes rain, snow, fog, and dew, which scavenge gases and particles from the air. Acid rain is a well-known example of wet deposition, where sulfuric and nitric acids are deposited.
