Scavenging coefficient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008697
A parameter used in atmospheric chemistry models to quantify the rate at which aerosols or trace gases are removed from the atmosphere by precipitation. It represents the efficiency of wet deposition processes, such as rainout and washout, in clearing pollutants. This coefficient is typically expressed in units of inverse time and varies depending on the pollutant, precipitation type, and meteorological conditions.
