Volume extinction coefficient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010052
A measure of the total attenuation of electromagnetic radiation per unit path length as it passes through a medium, due to both absorption and scattering. It quantifies the rate at which radiation intensity decreases. This coefficient is expressed in units of inverse length, such as inverse kilometers.
