Scattering coefficient

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008690

A quantitative measure of the amount of radiation scattered by a medium per unit path length. It describes the probability that a photon will be scattered as it travels through a given distance in the atmosphere. This coefficient is wavelength-dependent and is typically expressed in units of inverse length, such as per meter or per kilometer.
