Attenuation coefficient

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003699

A quantitative measure of the rate at which the intensity of radiation or sound decreases as it propagates through a medium. It represents the fractional loss of energy per unit path length. This coefficient is wavelength-dependent and is used in radiative transfer calculations and remote sensing applications.
