Heterolytic dissociative adsorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005256
A type of adsorption where a molecule breaks into two or more fragments upon binding to a surface, with the bonding electrons unequally distributed between the fragments. This results in the formation of charged species on the surface. Such adsorption is common in catalytic reactions where polar bonds are cleaved.
