Heteronuclear decoupling

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005257

A technique in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy where a strong radiofrequency field is applied at the resonance frequency of one nuclear spin type to remove its coupling interactions with another, different nuclear spin type. This simplifies the NMR spectrum by collapsing multiplet signals into singlets. It is commonly used to decouple protons from carbon-13 nuclei.
