Adsorbent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000280
A solid or liquid material that provides a surface for the adsorption of other substances. The adsorbent typically has a high surface area and specific surface properties that facilitate the binding of molecules from a surrounding fluid phase. Common adsorbents include activated carbon, silica gel, and alumina.
