Multilayer adsorption

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007642

The process where more than one layer of adsorbate molecules forms on the surface of an adsorbent. This occurs when the interaction between adsorbate molecules is strong enough to allow subsequent layers to build upon the initial monolayer. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) theory describes this phenomenon for gas adsorption.
