Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001519
A measure of the total surface area of a material, determined by the physical adsorption of gas molecules onto its surface, typically nitrogen at liquid nitrogen temperature. This method, known as BET theory, quantifies the surface area based on the formation of a monolayer and subsequent multilayer adsorption. The BET surface area is expressed in square meters per gram (m²/g).
