Area of interface
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000768
The boundary region between two immiscible phases where their properties change abruptly. This area is where interfacial phenomena, such as adsorption and surface tension, occur. For a liquid-gas interface, it is the surface area of the liquid exposed to the gas phase, measured in square meters.
