Interfacial layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005937
A thin region at the boundary between two bulk phases, possessing properties that differ from those of the adjacent bulk phases. This layer forms due to differences in molecular interactions, composition, or structure at the phase boundary. It can be a few molecular diameters thick and influences transport phenomena and surface reactions.
