Surface region
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011661
The portion of a material that encompasses the interface and extends into the bulk phase, where properties are influenced by the presence of the boundary. This region includes the surface layer and any adjacent layers where gradients in composition or structure exist. Its thickness can vary depending on the specific system.
