Area-related parameters
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012884
Quantities expressed per unit area, such as a reaction rate or an amount adsorbed divided by the surface area of a catalyst. In dark heterogeneous catalysis they characterise the catalyst, but in photocatalysis they do not, because light does not reach every part of the surface equally. If the illuminated area cannot be established, the total BET nitrogen surface area is recommended, which gives a lower limit for the per-area quantity.
