Adsorption current

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000286

A faradaic current, produced by electron transfer, whose size varies with the applied potential and with how fast or how far an electroactive substance, or its oxidation or reduction product, adsorbs on the working electrode. It gives voltammetric responses that scale with surface coverage rather than with diffusion alone. It differs from the non-faradaic charging current, which involves no electron transfer.
