Electroactive substance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003649

A chemical species that undergoes a change in its oxidation state or chemical structure through the gain or loss of electrons at an electrode surface. This process is reversible or irreversible and forms the basis of many electrochemical analytical techniques. The substance participates directly in the electron transfer reaction at the electrode interface.
