Adsorption factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000287
The fraction of a substance, out of everything available for adsorption, that is adsorbed at an interface between a condensed layer and an adjoining liquid or gas. Being dimensionless, it ranges from zero to one. The distribution coefficient Kd is a different quantity, the amount adsorbed on a unit mass of solid divided by the concentration left in solution, with units of volume per mass.
