Dipolar mechanism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003239
A process of energy transfer between a donor and an acceptor molecule that occurs through long-range dipole-dipole interactions. This mechanism does not involve the exchange of electrons but rather the transfer of excitation energy via a resonant coupling of the transition dipoles. The efficiency of this transfer is inversely proportional to the sixth power of the distance between the donor and acceptor.
